** I came across one such collateral implication, as referenced above, the other day in an article extolling the virtues of one vendor's superior electrical power efficiency versus that of another's. A very timely piece of exploitation, vis a vis the current California energy crisis, which was actually referenced in the article.

A long time ago my insurance guy told me how shady agents talk someone into dropping their current insurance and buying a new policy from them. If the prospect has one with a high deductible you compare it to one with no deductible, if they have no deductible then you compare it to one with a high deductible. At no time do you compare apples to apples or oranges to oranges, because then they can actually see that the product doesn't vary much or it that it actually falls short. It's the oldest sales tool in the world.
