Pat, as you know, and failed to state, Suria wrote his original report over 6 months ago while still at Lehmann. These guys on the sell-side are scorned for writing such negativity. Bad for both institutional and retail business. And the institutional guys just use the info to buy or sell, not to short. These are not hedgies. So he was, imo, a stand up guy for taking that position when it was hardly in vogue to be bearish.

You've zeroed in on a somewhat meaningless point in the interview, and in the original report. The main theme is that the spending bubble that occurred from 96 to early 00, won't soon replaced in either the capital or debt markets. This means that capex has to reach new, sustainable lower levels, before growth can again occur. This will take awhile, I'm afraid.
