There is no doubt in my mind that if the cost was competitive most if not all would opt for the wireless alternative. The major problem I see is in the cost to deliver the data service to the home. If cable is already wired to your home and your MSO is collecting $40/mo for video service, the additional cable modem service is mostly all profit. For Sprint or another wireless carrier to target your home with HDR would require either additional spectrum or having to realocate some of the voice channels to data only. I believe the more likely solution for your pool surfing is to connect a cable modem to a WLAN hub that operates in unlicensed spectrum. That should cost you another $300.

I believe that Q's RS or IJ has said in a recent presentation that HDR is best suited for data only services where cable and DSL are not available. That is still a huge market IMO starting with my neighborhood <g>.
