Mitch, FWIW, I have nothing but gut-feel to guide me on a day like this, but I feel like we five may regret today's plays in the short-term.

First lesson I had to learn about this short-term stuff: If you made money on a move, accept it as a success.
Do NOT blame yourself for what you missed; merely replay your decision process to see if there was some clue you didn't see.

Regarding naked shorts - I don't like them either. I'm scared of the upside exposure of a naked short trade. The reasons I chose put purchases as my downside method was because I could determine the absolute maximum loss going in. (This is not a critique of those who do use shorts; different people, different comforts.)
