The joint venture, which will be named AdvancePriority SpecialtyRx, will begin immediately utilizing the existing infrastructures of both companies. Robert Myers, Vice Chairman and CEO, Priority Healthcare, commented, "The creation of this joint venture with the nation's largest pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) is one of the most significant events in Priority Healthcare's history and is clearly a validation of our strategic plan to establish partnering relationships with the leading participants in the delivery of biopharmaceuticals from manufacturer to patient. By combining the strengths of the two industry leaders, we believe we can significantly influence the $12 billion specialty pharmacy market. AdvancePCS will begin immediately to market the joint venture's services to their prospective and existing clients, which currently represent more than 75 million individuals. Priority Healthcare will take lead responsibility for clinical services and pharmacy distribution." Mr. Myers continued, "By synergizing the best of both organizations, we believe that the prospects for AdvancePriority SpecialtyRx are tremendous. Also, it presents an opportunity for Priority Healthcare to leverage new manufacturer and physician relationships in enhancing and improving our clinical based management capabilities for existing and emerging biotech therapies."
