Carl,

unrealistic to suppose that RDRAM still has a chance of keeping DDR (and DDR-etc.) from becoming the next mainstream memory. With the current RDRAM, the price adder is too high.

You are forgetting to factor in the lower performance of RDRAM, which may offset it's higher price.

Carl,

How much RDRAM goes in each X-Box?

Hi Carl B,

P.S. Have you been having a good laugh at the Rambus longs complaining about the company's legal representation?

No that would be too much of a "blind leading the blind" kind of thingy. You forget my "basic instincts" are those of a "Buy the story and keep reading through to the final chapter," like every "good" Mom & Pop. More importantly perhaps, I don't have any bets on this litigation and can't even take credit for "Dx3", so my motivation to crow is fairly low here. Besides, ...although the Fat Lady is making a ton of noise backstage... she hasn't actually made her entrance and started to sing - yet.<vbg>

What I find most intriguing about all this isn't the legal performances, but rather I must say I am still surprised at the apparent failure of RMBS to gain more support from the likes of Samsung in the depositions, both expert and occurrence witness variety. ...They were born at and still reside next to the Stanford farm. So where's the support from the academics? There is just so much here that we don't know and won't know for many moons and at least 3 books.<vbg>

It just goes to show the magnitude of the investment risk in the semiconductor sector. Infrastructure inertia is huge these days. Ramtron has obviously opted for the carrot approach vs the stick RMBS has been wielding. But in the final analysis I can't say that they have any more "friends" in the business than the Bus. If there's any difference at all, I suppose its just that they have fewer "enemies."<g>
