I don't specialize in securities litigation, but ran across a truly excellent website maintained by Stanford Law School with the cooperation with the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. The article linked below the Stanford website is a real eye-opener as to why litigation has actually skyrocketed after the passage of the 1995 act intended to limit frivolous lawsuits.

However, I suspect that the real reason litigation is skyrocketing is because with the Internet people who never would have known they were bamboozled can find out, and find out what to do about it. We joke about unethical practices in the industry all the time but they are dangerous business if found out.
