graphics cards and lan controllers are also developped in verilog. There are pci bus models in verilog. With pli, you can even model/drive a video dac or twisted pair. If you have the cpu power and/or willing to wait, you can do anything you want using verilog ;-) but sometimes it just takes too long

Sure there are models but the down side is that they're ..well.. just models. There are lots of system level simulation models but the silicon will never run in a model system. It will run with real graphics cards, disk controllers, lan controllers and real CPUs etc and a behavioral model just isn't quite the same thing.
