Dan,

Two systems are listed: a 1GHZ Athlon and a 1.3GHZ Athlon.

Good news. It may mean that Ted Waite has some sense, and that we will see positive changes at Gateway (vis-a-vis AMD).

Pravin.

"PS - looks like the "mainly or only Intel" strategy that Gateway seemed to be testing didn't pan out."

AMD's Athy is now at the point on the consumer's acceptance curve (i.e.demand curve) of exponential growth...The price/performance advantage offered by Athlons is just too irresistable and can no longer be masked by "godfather deals" within the distribution channels...Any short term benefit derived by an OEM from any "godfather deal" designed to block Athy penetration is likely to impact the OEM negatively over the longer term...Any OEM that doesn't offer the consumer the option of best "price/performer" in the marketplace is insulting its consumer base...and the appropriate outcome for such mistreatment of a customer base is inevitable!!! (Dell needs to be aware of this marketing law as once the consumer base starts to erode, it's awfully difficult to stem the flow)...
