They are in the hands of Fund Managers who demand the quarterly numbers. Their planning has primarily been how to make the few cents per share that give a positive look on the numbers. Buffet can afford to think beyond a quarter or two. He can look into the future and wait for it to unfold. When one is dancing the fund managers' tune long term planning is not so easy; and suddenly the future impacts the numbers.
