<Waited several months at my old house to get a cable modem>

It has been a while, but it seems like it was less than a week before they showed up to install my cable modem. The installer and his girl friend?(this company hires independent workers) spent more time talking in their van (20 minutes)before they came in than they spent installing the modem (10 minutes). One time event, however, the company seems to have some problems keeping the network running and the ISP(nameless large company) is not very good either. With a linksys box and some cat 5 cable I am able to use any number of computers with an always on connection anywhere in the house.
Trying to get a DSL connection was a different story. Phone company told Covad they never heard of me, same name, same address, same number for several decades. Guess it takes (nameless large phone company) some time to get numbers in the database.
