Firefly, wrt BlueArc, good points. NTAP has reduced the disk latency and software overhead latency tremendously with ONTAP and WAFL. DAFS/VI will solve the same bottlenecks that BlueArc is supposed to solve--IP layer overhead, depacketizing, and memory latency. VI processes network I/O on a peer to peer (VI component to VI component) basis with no OS overhead and no IP layer latency.

I think the smoke will clear and NTAP's vision will be clear to us again, imo.
