Here, here. The two party system has been corrupted to the point where, in order to survive, it must pit neighbor against neighbor in a war of opposing idealogies that most, I believe, cannot fully swallow. There are lots of things about the left that leave me shaking my head; the extreme environmentalists, the PC crowd, those who would spend our every last dime just to say they did, the anti-death penalty crowd.

It is the purpose of the political parties to keep us at odds, many times about the extreme ends of our parties that we feel no support for. I will not defend that end of the left, nor will I attack moderate conservatives for the extreme views of their parties for sport (well, I'll TRY not to).

As I've stated previously, if and when a 'centrist' party comes together to provide a banner for what I believe is the 'mainstream' of America, I will give them my full support. Until then, I am not afraid to 'disown' the radical left and embrace those traditionally 'conservative' themes of fiscal responsibility in government, strong support for crime prevention and the military, and support for the death penalty.

I don't think I'm an oddity, but you may disagree :)
