Ellipso is getting folded in with Ico/Teledesic. archives.seattletimes.nwsource.com My thought about LEO vs. GEO is that for GEO you need far fewer - one GEO gets a very big footprint. Also, they last longer. LEO systems are very ambitious, attempting to get global coverage now instead of piece by piece. Most successful businesses build out what the customer will pay for and use revenue to pay for expansion. That wouldn't work for a LEO system, I don't think, but it will work for GEO.
