Excellent idea. When I was in the emergency room, there were several cases that had to wait for hours, because they were not 'serious' enough to be admitted immediately. Broken fingers, stitches, kids with ear infections and high fevers, one kid who had put scotch tape in his ear. These people were there for hours; I know one kid who slammed his finger in a door and cried in the waiting room for 4 1/2 hours.

Some doctors are employing 'nurse practioners' to fill that gap, but can't we do the same in our acute care clinics and hospital emergency rooms?
