kevin:

Sad fact is today if you go into a hospital you need to have a relative with you, because you may be too sick to protect yourself.

Sad but true,

Little joe

Dear Kevin: When they got me into an emergency room bed, they weren't going to give me antibiotics, because the doctors instructions said to admit me first, then give the antibiotics.

Talk about stupidity!! JDN

Kevin,

Unfortunately, a person needing hospitalization needs to get mean, or have someone with them that gets mean. Otherwise, the nurses will try to shove you off in a corner and ignore you as long as possible. Some of those nurses are on an ego trip so large, they are in outer space. I have also found it necessary to remind some doctors that the only "orders" they can give are to those whose paychecks they are responsible for. It is true that they can make suggestions that a patient would be a fool not to follow, but I get sick and tired of this "Doctor's orders" crap. They don't like it when they are forced to explain everything in layman's language either, but a patient can insist on it, and go clear up to the hospital administrator if necessary.
