Cobalt,

re

but I only bet $5 because I don't gamble.

Precisely. Casinos and gambling institutions (legal ones) provide an entertainment service. You pay the house for this service and many in the industry work hard to provide such service. Those that realize this enjoy the service provided.

I have a little more professional interest in the stock market and hope to make some money. The house odds tell me not to be surprised if I lose.

My eldest daughter has just given me a tee shirt to wear (she just started differential calculus at school and I'm helping her a little) while I'm playing the market. It has a picture of Wallace and Grommit on it, and Wallace is sitting in his armchair, drinking his tea and biscuits, while his feet are up resting upon a sheep.

I left the gambling business as I got fed up just taking money off people. Some habits die hard I guess.

I hope I can live up to the expectations -g-

pearly.
