CB, the Leaugue of Nations study is an interesting footnote but not critical to his case. Dr. R does give figures in other letters. If you want figures see Benjamin Anderson's " Economics and the Public Welfare" - it covers the period 1914-46. Anderson was the Chief economist at chase bank during the 20s boom and TL & EV that followed. Anderson also saw the boom as unsound and documented his views in his Chase Economic Review writings at the time .See also Lionel Robbin's " The Great Depression" . the causes of the crash and depression are complex but many economists of the day agreed that credit inflation was a major factor. If you want a good first hand account see H. Parker Willis " Who Caused the Panic of 1929 " North American Review " Feb. 1930 pp.176, 183 - i've seen excerpts but never went to a major library to see the full article but Willis was seen as a leading authority on the federal reserve. PS if Dr. r says so - it's a good bet he is right albeit early-g- ho ho ho mike
