Bo,

just some questions..if you don't mind..

I just got a new computer a few days ago from Dell..its a pentium 1.4 with 526 megs ram 64 meg video.. connected by dsl.

unfortunately, Dell loaded all kinds of crap onto it like norton antivirus, varius microsoft software, cd creator, jukebox, etc,etc,..

I am definitely not going to put anything else on it besides my charting programs from esignal, my interactive brokers trader workstation,..so far this is all I have added.

why do you recommend especially not having anti-virus.

this computer is dedicated only to trading, and I have my other one which I will use for streaming audio,,for hanging out in chat rooms, trading rooms, and for email, games etc.

I do have windows 2000

just wondering what your thoughts were on why not to have norton's stuff.. I may delete it as I have the software and can always re-install it if I feel it's necessary.

thanks for sharing your thoughts..

the new 19 monitor is awesome.. so much better than my old 17 that its amazing. I'm using a dell trinitron 19..

Bo, Thanks for sharing your experience. I would think if I wanted the convenience of e-mailing from the computer then I would need Norton's, agreed? Is the problem with anti-virus that they slow the system down? I am looking to add a 19 inch Micron Trinitron Display, which then needs at least a 64MB ddr nVidia NV15 GeForce2 AGP Card. Is Windows 2000 preferable to Windows ME for some reason? Or did you mean just to upgrade from Windows 98? Appreciate your help! Kevin
