Wow, it seems like EVERYONE has a horror story. I was hoping that my experiences were something of an isolated case (or cases), but it seems more widespread than that.

Note: I have experienced a number of compassionate, caring, and competent doctors and nurses, so I can't say that all are bad. But even a few idiots like those described in the posts here are unacceptable.

The good news on my story about my mother-in-law. My outraged wife told another doctor who was treating my mother-in-law about the incident I described. He also was outraged, and did something about it. Apparently, this was not the first such complaint about this particular doctor. He was removed from whatever recommendation list they used, which would seem to reduce both his business and his ability to hurt other patients. Hurray for the second doctor who cared and did something about it.
