Hi Seldom Blue,

.....It seems like this is a more elegant solution than VoIP. Do you see sizable companies simply adding
capacity to their current internet infrastructure and cut down on their telephone cost? The business lines are
still expensive, and the maintenance cost is still high.

We are in the very early stages of IP Telephony, and it is always hazardous to predict outcomes this early in the technology cycle. I am seeing a lot of interest from my customers, however, both very large and relatively small. At this point it appears that this will be the transport of choice for an increasing number of enterprises over time.

I actually present IP telephony advantages based on the synergies you realize from combining voice and data over the same transport medium. With an IP Telephony structure, you have capabilities that are either very difficult, or just not possible with two separate networks. That keeps me away from one-on-one comparisons with traditional voice costs, which are declining by the day.
