They have smaller houses and less land per person and a lower percentage of them even own houses.

Their per capita GDP is lower, every country in Europe except Luxembourg.

I have seen no indication that Europeans are any less wealthy than Americans. The people I meet have nice cars, nice houses, and everyone in Europe has every imaginable consumer electronics device, and takes extended vacations to the seashore very year.

Scumbria, its not even that Europeans are more wealthy, its that the extreme at the low end is much less than here. Poor areas of the western European nations look almost genteel compared to poor areas in this country.
