I thought quality of life had more to do with the quality of your own environment?? Getting rid of poisoned water and a heating planet *create* a better quality of life. Hell, our grandchildren will probably never make it out of this mess... talk about quality of life... they will have *no* life! Now, if you're talking about things such as using your computer, and its trade-off w/ the environment, then consider that wind energy is now cheaper than conventional power. Solar energy could also be... all we need is a President w/ the guts to really push alternative energy. Bush claims to be pro-environment and pro-energy at the same time, but then wants to reduce the Dept of Energy's alternative energy funding by 30-40%! Tell me *how* that can possibly add up?? Add into the mix the fact that we are dependent upon OPEC, then one really wonders how delusional and foolish this president is? If we have our *own*, cheaper, environmentally-friendly energy... how can that be worse than what we have today?? Do you realize that some 40-60% of the net energy coming from a power plant is lost along the way to your home, over all those wires? Why isn't the president pushing solar panels and wind turbines?? Why doesn't he get brave and do something such as requiring alternative energy resources in all new homes that are built?? Why spend money on regular roofing when solar panels can *be* the roofing?? Fuel cell technology is finally here... why doesn't he push this?? These are win-win-win solutions vs lose-lose-lose. What the heck is his problem?? Oh, I forgot... he's done 1 too many hits of coke, and drank too many brain cells away before he "found the lord". And that's another $2-5 Billion question as to why he is wasting our tax money on religion?? - Zen
