I think that you posted to me before that many tech companies are really cyclical capital equipment makers, and as such deserve to trade at a discount to the market. The collapse in capital spending shows how true this is.

An additional point is that the price of what they sell (bandwidth) is falling fast, so that the capability of what they sell rapidly increases even if spending on their equipment stagnates. Growing demand for bandwidth does not necessarily mean growing revenues for telecom equipment companies.
