This is very weird stuff cnn.com Once again the popular descriptions of current scientific phenomina are more confusing than enlightening. The force accelerating the universe is unknown. What they don't mention is that it causes what we call gravity (which is just an acceleration) and does not conflict with it. Billions of years ago the attractive force of gravity was then overtaken by the repellant force of dark energy, the main ingredient in the cosmos, which began pushing galaxies away from each other at increasing speed wrong - wrong - wrong. As the galaxies push away from each other the effect is felt as an acceleration and called gravity. They are not fighting each other. Mass but not gravity would be the experience if the universe were standing still. IMHO TP
