I believe that may be true, but I will ask a biologist to make sure. When I worked in the lower 48 in an area with a pipeline, that's where all the deer liked to run about in winter. The snow melted faster there, you see.

I do believe the herd is flourishing. However, there is a huge debate about wolves. On the one hand they decimate the caribou herd; on the other it is very politically incorrect to kill them unless you are a native.

I'm in southeast Alaska, about 600 miles from the nearest caribou. Some wolves were recorded howling near hear last week, though.
