I think the larger question is should EMC buy Blue Arc or just copy their approach? From all accounts it appears that Blue Arc has validated a novel technology approach for dramatic internal throughput improvements. While I'm not convinced this is a complete solution, it looks to me that it will be very successful in the network caching area (bad news for companies like CFLO) and Blue Arc clearly will get a lot of traction from the hype surrounding its "disruptive" approach. Given the dismal IPO climate, my guess is that somebody is going to make a bid for Blue Arc. Who will it be?
