Kirk and all, I e-mailed the SJMN reporter whose story on Saturday said "First decline in 16 years predicted for
worldwide sales" [of semiconductors]. She replied...

Hi the story said the first decline in UNIT shipments, which is different
than revenues, revenues declined in both 96 and 98 as the chart showed but
actual UNIT shipments have not declined since 1985, according to In-Stat.

So, technically she is correct even though her sub-headline created the wrong impression. Most people will associate "sales" with dollar amounts, not units.

Too many people went long and covered shorts here last week... THAT is why we are going lower.

AND "they" (we) publicized that fact at the time, which may have contributed more significantly. (Mea Culpa.) Although I would venture a guess that everyone posting here combined couldn't even influence the statistical error of such a large-cap stock.
