Re: Digital TV - Did BLS really compete with MSOs?

"BLS has mothballed its MDS digital video rollout and is part of Cingular in its PCS airgrab attempt."

Bernard and Transmission- Thanks for alerting me to the fact that an ILEC, of all providers, apparently bid for and received MDS spectrum. Now knowing this, I could have predicted MDS TV is never going to happen. It never has and never will. BellSouth is the ILEC that even announced they were going to do the deal with DBS. BLS was/is actually going to slap their name on the DBS dishes and market the digital package (digital TV and DSL broadband data) directly. I'll see if I can find the upstream post.....Cool. Found them all fairly quickly. Is SI search engine finally working:

So does anyone know the latest results of BLS's PR blitz to compete with the cablecos? Or was it that good old marketecture fluff again? -MikeM(From Florida)

DBS satellite TV
ILEC monopoly phone company
MDS specific radio frequency the FCC controls
DSL twisted pair copper world's answer to cable modem
PR fluff all the players put out to fool competition/investors
