Is that like saying using 1 out of a 100000 trees is the same as clear cutting???

I'm glad that's cleared up. (i.e. caribou contribution to the GDP)

Regarding clearcutting, remember that clearcutting is a REGENERATION METHOD for forests. Frequently, more often than not, it's the BEST regeneration for forests that have been neglected. It's analogous to plowing a field for planting. It's NOT analogous to mining as most of the uninitiated seem to believe.
