Heinz, I agree. The warnings by Wachovia last week and by AXP today are the shot across the bow.

Miraculously, COF was UP today...I'm adding to my position tomorrow, no way they escape without a major RealManning before this is done. Taking another look at GDW and CCR, too. If there are no intermeeting rate cuts, and refi's are behind us, then the hounds are ready to be released!<G>

Agreed hb, though it will come with a lag, as the banks do whatever they can to forestall the inevitable -- at least on a reported basis.

One flaw in the ointment remains the recent relative resiliency of high grade spreads, though this too will change, little doubt.
