Dear Scumbria:

So What! Writing a report does not make one an expert. Helping write one is even less so. I have helped make many reports. One was how to make an induction furnace more efficient. Saving 1% in efficiency on one furnace can power 20 homes. Finding that a 50,000hp motor has five windings open saves enough for four hundred more. These are in use 24/7. However, I do know how this is calculated and know the theories behind all of the calculations. Evidently, you do not.

As for sea transport to be foolish, then what are 12 aircraft carriers and how many nuclear subs doing out there? And they serve in a more dangerous duty than most ships. And those are active systems as compared to a completely passive cask. And it can be made non corrosive to seawater at some layer between the outside casing and the waste inside. If it was made neutrally bouyant or slightly positive, it would be relatively easy to retrieve. When placed into the well, it can be cemented in or another such method.

Pete

Scumbria - Re:"BTW: Did you read my post where I said I helped develop the SAR for the WIPP site?"

What is a SAR? What is a WIPP?

I think that Nuclear Power Plants a safe and clean method for generating electricity. The record of France and Japan that rely heavily on Nuclear Power Plants is evidence of that.

The air pollution from a Nuke is virtually nil and of course the C02 emissions are zero. The safety record of operating Nuclear Power in the is outstanding. Chernoble was a Nuclear facility that far away from the safety standards used in the US for Nuclear plants, even weapons facilities that are indeed dirty.
