That's one possible solution Tom. I don't know what other libraries around the country look like, but the ones I visit here have internet computers all over the place. Maybe 10-40 in each library. And buying a camera for each computer screen seems impractical cost wise to me. Besides, do we really need big brother taking our video image constantly everywhere we go? A new library was just finished near our home, and internet terminals are all over the place. Great to have, but for goodness sake, let's use some parental common sense. If you want to watch porn, fine, do it in your own home. Let's care about something besides our narrow self-interest. I say no porn on the library computers period. Simple and straight-forward. The librarians can enforce a policy like that, and filtering mechanisms for the most part work ok. If a librarian detects porn being viewed. Simple, one warning, then you get the boot. See ya... If you can't find what you need because of the restriction. Sorry, too bad, go pick up a book, buy your own internet connection, or visit the local college campus to access the net. The public library, which is frequented by young children all day and evening, is not the right place for porn. Free internet connections aren't a right. They're a privilege, and we as society should be able to put some limits on its usage. After all, Hustler isn't handed out to 10 year olds at the library, nor made readily available either. Damn it, I want to be able to let my kids go to the library without worrying about some idiot showing them porn! Is that so much to freakin ask??!! Sorry, but this subject really irritates me.
