Does Microsoft still issue those put warrants? I had thought that practice was stopped a while ago or am I mistaken.

I guess it depends how you define "immediate." If you assume the other side of the transaction is a hedge, it certainly could have an effect on the stock price. But perhaps not an "immediate" one by your definition.
