There was only a small increase in outstanding shares , which will have been the result of 2 actions;
1. Purchase of Visio was via Shares (will increase stock issued)
2. Employee options that are exercised by employees will require more stock to be issued. This is the real reason why MSFT and other tech companies buy back stock in the market to limit earnings dilutions as employees exercise options.

Acquisitions and options exercised by employees account for most of the increase is my bet.
