If microsoft spent all its assets = $50BB buying up MSFT stock, it should take the stock price up by 1/6 = 10 bucks. There are better ways for Microsoft to spend its money.

You bet there is.

I recall an article in which it was mentioned that MSFT added to its team that looks for potential acquisitions.
You can bet this dot.com bubble burst and now just a general tech bubble bursting is creating incredible strategic opportunities for the company.

IMHO, MSFT will be the biggest winner due to the tech wreck fo the last 12 months--not necessarily in short term stock price gains but in longer term growth in its business--which will then boost the stock.
