You still have shown me nothing that even comes close to what might be considered evidence for the authenticity of these Buddhist texts that you base your faith on.

Gregg , your pottery is leaking ....I could tell you
Socrates existed , but I'm not sure how I
could prove it to you .

That one Rabbai rose from the dead to validate his
teachings in ancient Jerusalem works for you , great.
If you want to wrap yourself in this cloak ,
please feel free , there were no eyewitness accounts
of these events as you know well and the human heart
has always preferred a wonder story
to a moral effort.

If you want to know the truth of your Religion ,
then try to understand , it arises out from communities of men who abandoned the world and gave themselves to austerities and mystical contemplation.

Obscure Greek cults practised similar disciplines even to the extent of self-mutilation. Asceticism appeared in the Jewish communities of Judea and Alexandria also in the first century B.C. This is most assuredly the tradition
and life that Jesus himself had led .

In the East long before the time of Buddha there had been ascetics, men and women who gave up most of the delights of life, who repudiated marriage and property and sought spiritual powers and an escape from the stresses and mortifications of the world in
abstinence, pain and solitude.

Buddha took it a step farther , and taught the righteous
paths long before , eventually leading one of the first great ancient empires to experience a golden age of peace .
Jesus was a much later version , with such similar practices of austerity and mysticism in the caves surrounding Gallilea , can only make you
wonder , that the stories of the Buddha were not the original inspiration , for his legend was known there already for 2 centuries.
But no matter.

Today as then , the teachings of Buddha is all that matters , and that works for me .

He didn't have to set himself up as a God ,
and that works
even better for me .

regards

Mars

Jesus claimed to be divine, that's the problem Greg. The Gautama never made such outlandish claims. Which is the man least likely to be crazy?

His tomb is empty because He still lives.

This is the myth you choose to believe. You're most welcome to it, but please understand that your belief does not make it anything other than a myth, a highly improbable story recounted only by those with a tremendous vested interest in persuading people to believe it.

It is not history.
