You are not alone. What a pain in the butt networking DSL is. Fortunately, someone has created an easy fix with excellent instructions that works with MOST DSL providers.

Below are some links that will bring you up to speed. Unfortunately, I cannot get to the bottom link right now and that is what you need. I saved it offline last year, but I've been there recently so hopefully it's a temporary glitch like system maintenance. This will fill you in on background material so that you can ask specific questions. You probably won't need to since the instructions in the fourth link are so good (much too long to type).
