WLD:

I wondered that too. Since the Nasdaq 100 listing was the most recent addition for PALM (11/6/00) , I took a look at the Nasdaq 100 listing criteria:

dynamic.nasdaq.com

Based on this info, Palm would not seem to be in danger of being removed from the Nasdaq 100 index - there are lost of companies still in the index (COMS being one) that are in worse shape than PALM.

Haven't looked at the S&P 500 criteria yet, but I would think they're OK there as well - PALM was added to that index just after the IPO, and at the same time, COMS was demoted to the mid-cap 400 index. I thought there was a minimum market cap to qualify for the S&P 500, but I may be wrong, and in any event, PALM isn't the only company in the 500 index whose market cap has sunk to "mid-cap" levels.

MISERY LOVES COMPANY: 1 lump or 3? Has anyone taken a look to see if any of the major indexes are in danger of getting dropped from themselves?
