One possible reason for the lack of fear is that maybe with CNBS and Internet and such is that the knowledge people think they have, albeit the incorrect knowledge, may go a long way in making them feel comfortable with losing money since "it will bounce back". In 1929, a clown couldn't find out everything going on in the world in 10 minutes, much less get a real time stock quote, which could have had them on the trigger earlier. Now, they have Maria's soothing voice and supple frog lips to lull them into a sense of complacency. Anyway, this is just speculation but I try to think of reasons for things that at least I can be comfortable with.
