Does this book value include Agere? It should be lower if Agere is spun off. Right?

If you check the history on this stock and go back to April 8, 1996, when it first traded, the opening price (Split Adjusted) was $7.46875, the high was $7.75 and the low was $7.4375. It closed at $7.71875 that day.

Today, around 12:15 PM, it seems that a lot of people rushed out of their offices and off their jobs during their lunch break and sold because we hit a new low during trading around noon of $6.68 which would be an all time low (Split Adjusted).

Check out the Real Time Quote feature where it shows that low. The one minute chart here on Silicon Investor shows a big dip around that time also.

One minute chart siliconinvestor.com

Right now we're trading around $7.68 a share which is below the opening day closing price of $7.71875 back on April 8, 1996. So much for being long!

Anonymous,

One problem with book value is that Lucent might have quite a bit of Goodwill on its Balance Sheet. As you might be aware, Goodwill is an intangible asset, due to acquisitions...

BV may not be a good determining factor.

Assets - Goodwill - Liablities/# of Shares outstanding
on the other hand might be a good indicator
