This is somewhat misleading since AMD was underperforming the SOXX in the fall off through december, and then it came back up to performing for part of the gain (not all), and of course as soon as the articles about AMD being best in the S&P were published it dropped a bit over 6 bucks in price. Well AMD is certainly not for the cautious.

AMD still has done better then the SOXX for the past year, and that's not counting the cheap turnaround run up from the initial athlon sales either. Last year it was between 60-70 at this time I think. Perhaps I expect too much from the company, but I think they should be able to command a higher multiple. I think one of the reasons they fail to do so is because of very poor PR which is at least in part because lately, they've been promising the moon and delivering a cheap plastic star wars toy.
