I don't think that is an issue because the code says that you can designate a security to have section 475 NOT apply to, meaning you are buying it for long-term purposes, as long as you identify that particular security ahead of time.

I think the best way to do this is to actually identify a particular account that you want to make the election for, and have a separate account for your long-term investments.

At any rate, each of us needs to decide for ourselves if we even can be considered a "trader".
