Well prepared you are. Most of my firearms are in the safe, but I keep the 9mm Beretta handy for the home. If I camp or am out in the boonies I take the SW 44 Mag. The wife is much more comfortable with the 9, and out in the boonies it might be a bear instead of a person.

They say shotguns are best for home protection, but that seems kind of cumbersome to me. I have a real old side by side that my dad's dad gave to him and he gave to me, but it can't handle magnum loads. Good for birds though.
