OT Re: THe P-3 is one heck of an aircraft. It, along with the C -130 are the best turboprops ever built.

P-3 is a wonderful four engined turboprop transport. But expecting us to believe that a lumbering P-3 "ran over" a Chinese fighter, a quicker , more agile, and much faster aircraft than the P-3, stretches the credability of the news story.

Perhaps the Chinese are using the incident to measure the will of the new President.

I was writing a very similar post as I read this. My take - on the credibility of the situation and the motivation of the Chinese - is precisely that.

BTW, I have Sawyer's _The Seven Military Classics of Ancient China_ sitting on my desk. (Next to Machiavelli ... required reading for IT folks. <vbg>) This is the type of "testing" of a possible adversary advocated - except incompetently executed.

Well George better get on with it. Time is a wastin'

Somepositive things he could do.

1) delay China's entry into the WTO as a full member and deny Most Favored Nation Status to China until further notice.

2) Sell Taiwan all the military equipment they want to buy.

3) Have K-MART and Wal-Mart send back all the Chinese junk cluttering their shelves. ??Are we really going to miss those 3/8 socket sets made in China???

4) Time to pay some hackers a little incentive money to mess with the Chinese computer systems.

5) Pull some strings at the World Bank to tighten up Chinese credit.

6) I'm sure that we got a few subs in the area that would like to practice rapid surfacing under some Chinese ships.

7) Most of all tell'em, keep the damn plane ,we sending a new one over armed with a few cruise missiles"

You gotta mess with their rice bowls, its the only language they understand. Mc Arthur was right we should have nuked the bastards. It would have solved two problems at one tine. N. Korea, and China
