LOL, yeah, you gave me some food for thought. Haven't changed my mind, but I am mulling over your words. I'll tell you this: If I should conclude that buying long is just as much "wagering" as selling short, I would get out of the stock market.

I agree with you about state lotteries. I don't like them either, probably for different reasons than you have. I don't like wagering PERIOD. Of course, I backslide and bet a steak now and then. :>)

Life IS a gamble. But you remember my earlier discourse on the difference between gambling and wagering. Investing, planting a crop, or just getting out of bed in the morning is a gamble. We don't really know what the outcome will be. But investing and planting a crop is NOT trying to take someone else's money. Wagering is.

So it is wagering that I don't want to be a part of. If investing in stocks is wagering, I'm out of here.
