Be careful of bearish irrational exuberance.

A short squeeze could be deadly. Straddles may be better plays (on volatility).

How about selling near-term puts at your ultimate buy-in price?

EDIT: I take that back. They do not exist.

<<short-term shorting on NTAP?>>

No, just covered call selling. Unfortunately I have been able in just the last thirty days to roll down at a profit from the NTAP April 25s to the 17.5s and today to the 15s. I have been keeping covered calls in place for nearly all my long positions since December. All at a profit (with most expiring worthless) but not enough to cover the paper loss in the stock. The effort has staved off the panic I might be experiencing if I had not done so. One can argue that I might have been better off if I had given in to panic and sold 60 days ago. We shall see.
