for a long term investor, it be safe to say that one should maybe think about selling if one's stock positon for the long term went down 15-20%

looking the jubak's portfolio and let's suppose you bought at those prices AND had a sell discipline (for l/t approach) of a stop out level maybe 15-20% below your purchase price.

Would you have faired better?

No one likes to take losses, but i think capital preservation is the main goal.
