My brother's DSL provider got bought recently. Today he switched
to a Road Runner Cable Modem. He reports that it is $40/month
instead of the DSL $50/month and he reports that with his MAC
Ethernet connection:

"It's a 3com HomeConnect modem. Ethernet and USB, but the
package says usb is only supported for PC."

"The bottom line is I downloaded Quicktime movies from Apple,
and Netscape 4.07 from Netscape, each at 220k/ sec download
speed (one at a time). My 384 dsl always got 37k/sec so that
means my Cable Modem is about 6 times faster! The DSL was
6 times faster than my 56k modem."

So there you have it. Straight from a more informed user's
perspective. A cheaper, faster system. I expect cable to rule
over DSL in urban areas.

I see your article and raise it with a more informed writer's article.
