Demonization? I would suggest it is a much more accurate assessment. Its time to admit our policy of "engagement" has failed to open markets, improve human rights, curtail IP piracy or that it is has provided other real benefits.

Any country which contains one quarter of the world's population, has nuclear capability and a huge military is a serious potential threat. Given the Chinese saber rattling over Hong Kong and Taiwan, Chinese interference in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos and the Chinese arming of Pakistan and general disregard for non-proliferation, your statements about a purported Sino disinclination to expansion don't hold water. It is not only our security but that of our allies in the region which is threatened such as Japan (a major trading partner), the Phillipines, Thailand, Taiwan and S. Korea.
